The SAMHS Fund was established on 24 April 1980 with the aim of offering SAMHS personnel certain benefits and facilities not provided by the government. Over the years this fund has grown in strength and size, and currently has over 8000 contributing members who enjoy a host of benefits that are only available to Fund members.

Benefits, available at an additional cost, to all SAMHS Fund contributors who pay the monthly (R132.00) or annual contribution (R 1 584.00) are Funeral plan LIFE Membership after retirement age 60 years for Uniform members and 65 years for Civilian members: Contributors retiring from the Organisation may continue to have membership with the Fund. They may also continue with the Funeral Plan. However, the latter is at an additional cost and not free of charge.

Prices:

• Membership = R 132.00 per month or R1 584.00 per annum
• Funeral Plan (Life Members only) – Married or have a life partner = R 384.00 per annum
• Funeral Plan (Life Members only) – Unmarried = R 246.00 per annum
